The Gosaikunda trek falls within Langtang National Park and takes in the high altitude freshwater lake of Gosaikunda (4,380m). Gosaikunda Lake (4380m) has great religious significance which is well-known as a pilgrimage site for Hindus who flock to the site in August during Janai Purnima. According to Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda is the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri. Therefore, not only trekkers but numerous pilgrims also visit this region every year to worship making the region even more pure and divine. Moreover, the place is named after the glistening Gosaikunda Lake whose water is believed to have magical healing powers.

Gosaikunda Trek is a beautiful journey in Nepal through lush forests, quaint villages, abundant wildlife and astounding views of the majestic Himalayas. The trail is moderate and includes steep ascends and descends through sub-alpine dense forests. The trail provides wonderful views of Rhododendron, pine forest and different kinds of Vegetation as well as spectacular views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Mahalangur Himalayan range and lots of other snow-covered peaks. Details Itineries


Today early morning we drive about 1 hour from Kathmandu which takes us to the trekking point Sundarijal. From Sundarijal the trail ascends beside the water pipes which supplies drinking water to Kathmandu. Then the trail will enter through the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve which offers a rich insight into the lives, history, culture, and religion of its inhabitants. From the top of Shivapuri, we can have a panoramic view of the western mountains like Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Ganesh Himal Range, Mt. Langtang Range, Mt. DorjeLhakpa Mt. Shisapangma, Mt. GauriShankar and many more. Again the trail continues through the forest of rhododendron and oaks. After passing the Borlang Bhanjyang trail which goes downhill until we arrive at Chisapani (2140m). Overnight in Chisopani.

After taking our morning breakfast, we head for a journey to Kutumsang. Our today's trek starts with a decent crossing meadows and fields. We can enjoy the magnificent views of the Langtang mountains during our trail. With our beautiful destination in mind, our trek continues onwards to Pathi Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang . From Gul Bhanjyang, the trail climbs the ridge to another pass. Another downhill trek from the pass takes us to Kutumsang. Kutumsang is an interesting old Helambu village (the Hyolmo people who live here are a small indigenous sub-group). Overnight in Kutumsang.

After breakfast we leave from the ridge at Kutumsang and we will head towards the Mangengoth. Today the trail is up and down, crossing ravines and the boulders of old moraines, eventually reaching rhododendron, oak and juniper forests before arriving at Tharepati (3510m). Finally, we progress uphill (with only one small ridge to cross) and arrive at Ghopte. Beautiful views of the Himalaya as well as interaction with the Yolmo culture and customs are worth the stopover. At night you can see the lights of Trishuli Bazaar far below and the glow of Kathmandu to the west from Ghopte. Overnight in Ghopte.

Today in the morning after breakfast we hike to Lauribina pass(4610m) which is the highest point of our entire trek and is full of panoramic Mountain View then our trail goes down towards the Gosaikunda Lake. You can explore the area and try to locate all the 108 lakes. Or, just relax and enjoy the magnificence of Gosaikunda lake. The magnificent mountains surround this lake on all sides and offer the best sunrises and sunsets. Other famous lakes in and around Gosaikunda lake are Nagkunda, Bhairav Kunda, Suryakunda. The lake is surrounded by mountains on almost all sides and has a great ensemble of nine other lakes to accompany it. Every year during Janai Purnima in August, hundreds of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake for a holy bath. The large rock at the center of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. Overnight in Gosaikunda.

After a beautiful and relaxing night at Gosaikunda, we will trek back to the Dhunche via Chandanbari. Duringb the trail we can stop over at Singompa for lauch and some rest. The journey forwards through the hilly winding road along the Trishuli River. On the way, we get to experience fun mixing adventure as well as the great view of rivers, forest and terraced fields. Wee can enjoy the view of the Pine and Rhododendron forests during our trail. The descent is more difficult for some. Having a trekking pole can help improve our balance and provide support. Dhunche is the district headquarters of Rasuwa district and has headquarter of "Langtang national park" as well. Overnight at Dhunche.

After breakfast, we return to Kathmandu. The road from Dhunche to Kathmandu offers the opportunity to enjoy the Hilly and Mountainous landscapes. The route is usually on the banks of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. We also pass through beautiful villages with agricultural terraces on both sides of the road. We spent the rest of the day packing and perhaps catching up on our last minute souvenir shopping rest untill our scheduled flight. We bid you a good farewell untill next time. On the way back, you will have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
